I’ve heard this phrase so many times that I can’t keep up. Moms who are afraid to homeschool their teens because they don’t think that they are smart enough to do it.
It makes me sad.
Why would you believe that you’re not smart enough to give your child the best education possible, mama? Because you ARE enough!
To effectively homeschool your teens, you need 3 things.
- GOOGLE – Yes…everything you need can be found on the internet. If you have a computer or access to one, you have all of the information you need to teach your kids.
- PATIENCE – Nobody gets it right the first time around. Let yourself be OK with learning how to homeschool and finding the rhythm that works for your family.
- A LIBRARY CARD – Everything you need to get started can be found at your local library. You can download books online. You can download classes online too. You can get books about History, books about Science and books for fun. This is all you need to start. Curriculum can be bought later…when you know how your child likes to learn.
Today is the day that you let go of the idea. You ARE smart. You ARE capable. You ARE the best one to guide you kids through the High School years. God gave your kids to you because you are the PERFECT person to help them. Let go of the illusion that everything needs to be perfect.
Be OK with taking a leap of faith and listening to your heart. It won’t be easy. It won’t be perfect every day. But it will be something that you never regret.
